Evening Desert Safari Dubai with BBQ Dinner, Fun and Adventure
The evening desert safari with Only Tourism LLC is the full Dubai desert experience: a 4x4 run over the dunes in late-afternoon light, sunset from a dune top, then a desert camp for a buffet BBQ dinner and live fire, belly dance and Tanoura performances.
It runs 6 hours, 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM, with hotel pick-up and drop-off included, from USD 49 per adult.
This is the one to book if you are doing the desert once and want all of it. With Only Tourism, you are sure to have a great mix of adventure and relaxation. Vehicle: shared 4x4, up to 6 passengers per vehicle. You will share with other guests.
2:00–3:00 PM — Pick-up window
Your stated pickup is 2:30 PM, but a shared vehicle collects several parties. Guests staying further from the desert route are collected first. If you are in Dubai Marina or JBR, expect the earlier end of the window.
Expect 45–75 minutes in the vehicle before the sand starts. This is the part budget comparison sites leave out, and it is the single biggest difference between a shared and a private transfer.
Around 4:00 PM — Tyre deflation and dune bashing
The driver stops at the edge of the sand to drop tyre pressure. Dune bashing runs roughly 25–30 minutes: climbs, side slips and controlled descents.
Sit in the middle row if you are sensitive to it. Eat lightly at lunch. Seat belts stay on throughout.
Around 5:00 PM — Sunset stop
The vehicles stop on a high dune for the sunset. Dubai's sunset moves considerably through the year: in December it falls around 5:35 PM; in June, closer to 7:10 PM.
In winter this means you reach the camp after dark and the whole camp programme happens under lights which is when it looks its best. In summer the sun is still up when you arrive and dinner starts in daylight.
This is 20 minutes and it is the photograph everyone takes home. Clean your phone lens before you get out.
Around 5:45 PM — Camp arrival
Camel rides, sandboarding, henna and the Arabic costume photo point all run simultaneously around the camp. There is no fixed order — you move between them.
The camel ride is short and led at walking pace. Henna dries in about 15 minutes and lasts several days, so have it done early if you want it set before dinner.
Around 7:00 PM — BBQ dinner
Buffet service, seated on low cushions around the camp. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are both laid out.
Tell the coordinator at booking if anyone in your party needs halal-only, vegan, Jain, gluten-free or nut-free food. Buffets are hard to navigate blind.
Around 7:30 PM — The shows
Three performances run in sequence on the camp stage: a fire show, a belly dance and a Tanoura the Egyptian spinning dance with the weighted, illuminated skirt. Each runs roughly 15 minutes.
Seating is first come. If you want to be near the stage, take your seat before dinner service finishes rather than after.
Around 8:00–8:30 PM — Return
Vehicles leave together. Drop-offs follow the reverse of the pickup route, so the guests collected first are usually dropped last. Back at your hotel between 8:30 and 9:30 PM depending on where you are staying.
